GTIN checker

Validate GTIN-8, UPC (GTIN-12), EAN (GTIN-13) and GTIN-14 numbers instantly. Paste one code per line.

How the check works

The tool checks that the code has only digits, a valid length (8, 12, 13 or 14), is not all zeros, does not use a restricted in-store or coupon prefix (2, 98, 99), and that the last digit matches the GS1 check digit. Read our guide to fixing GTIN errors in Merchant Center.

Questions

What is a GTIN check digit?

The last digit of every GTIN is calculated from the other digits (GS1 modulo-10). If it does not match, the code was mistyped or invented.

Does a valid check digit mean the GTIN belongs to my product?

No. It only proves the number is well-formed. The GTIN must also be the one the manufacturer assigned to that exact product.

Are my codes uploaded?

No. The check runs entirely in your browser.
